Obituary-Photo-Meredith-FlorenceFlorence Meredith, 85, of Haskins, Ohio passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Florence was born to the late Walter and Stella (Coen) Ritzman in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated in 1945 from Scott High School, Toledo and attended The Ohio State University where she met her late husband-to-be, U.S. Navy Commander Carl E. Meredith Jr. They married December 19, 1947 in the First United Church of Christ in Toledo, Ohio.
Surviving are her daughter, Judy Meredith, her son, Stephen (Carla) Meredith, her granddaughters: Emily and Rebecca Meredith, and her three great-grandchildren: Alex, Greyson, and Emma, all of Bowling Green, Ohio. Also surviving are her sister, Carol Kirk of Hayesville, North Carolina, her brother, Walter W. Ritzman Jr. of Estes Park, Colorado, and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, daughter, Pamela Meredith, great-grandson, Carter and her sister, Wilma Geddis.
Florence was a homemaker.
She enjoyed playing the piano, her roses and birds, and baking cookies for everyone. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed.
She was a former member of the Haskins Sorority and the First United Church of Christ Church in Toledo. She was a former volunteer at the Wood County Hospital.
Visitation for Florence will be held Sunday, January 27, 2013 1 to 5 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 West Wooster Street/P.O. Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, Tele: 419-352-2171. Her Funeral Service will be Monday, January 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Remembrance Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Union Hill Cemetery.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be gifted in Florence’s honor to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, OH 43551.
