Evelyn Mae Current passed away, unexpectedly in her home, Tuesday morning, August 12, 2013.
She was born November 29, 1930 in Jerry City, Ohio to George and Florence Wright. She married John M. Current October 22, 1949 and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2013. They celebrated 62 years of marriage.
For many years, Evelyn was a homemaker. Nurturing children was an important part of her life, having been a child care provider in the community for many years. She was a dedicated member of Faith United Methodist Church, Cygnet, Ohio, where, over the years, she served on the church council, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
She also tutored elementary school children for several years during her 70s.
Evelyn was a charter member of the Bibs to Beaus chapter of the Ohio Child Conservation League in Jerry City, Ohio. She also participated in a weekly community Bible study group.
Evelyn was known for her creativity, seamstress skills, her decorated sugar cookies, and other homemade baked goods.
Evelyn is survived by her five children, Becky Hansen (Joel), Perrysburg, OH, John A. Current, Weston, OH, Jackie Tracy (Joe), Bowling Green, OH, William Current (Kandy), Bowling Green, OH, and Joy Engle (Denny), Jerry City, OH. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four brothers, Jerry Wright, Gene Wright, Ralph Wright and Joe Wright.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 16, 2013, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Pastor Dean Durant officiating. Burial will be in Jerry City Cemetery, Portage Township.
Visitation will be held Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cygnet Faith United Methodist Church.
