Emily Anne Dauterman, 75, of Risingsun, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Fostoria Community Hospital in Fostoria.
She was born August 9, 1938 in Cleveland to the late Raymond Edward and Emily Marguerite (Culp) Forristell. She married Dallas Peter Dauterman August 11, 1956 in Angola, Indiana, and he preceded her in death May 7, 2003.
Surviving are her children, Dallas F. Dauterman, Risingsun, Thomas R. (Gloria), Madrid, Spain, Joan (Bill) Fraser, Powell, Ohio, John E. Risingsun, Sharon A. (Jeff) Rieff-Sting, Bradner, and David S. (Deann) Dauterman, Risingsun; a sister, Joan Hiller, Toledo; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and those children and grandchildren that she adopted in love.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Denise, a brother, Raymond, and a granddaughter, Abbie.
Emily was a member of the Bowling Green Evening Lion's Club and won the esteemed Melvin Jones Award and the District Governor's Award. She was also a member of Toastmasters, Fostoria.
She had been a teacher for St. Wendelin Elementary School, Fostoria and believed in children's education and literacy, along with being a civil rights advocate. Emily enjoyed reading, was a "news junkie", found pleasure in doing crossword puzzles, good conversation, music, and her grandkids.
A memorial celebration of life service will be held from 3until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation's Simpson Building, 1291 Conneaut Avenue, Bowling Green.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kaubisch Library in Fostoria.
