Elvena-Burkholder-Obit-PhotoElvena S. Burkholder, age 93, formerly of Luckey, OH most recently of Pemberville, OH, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Village, Pemberville, OH.
She was born on March 6, 1919 in Stony Ridge, OH, to George and Anna (Schroeder) Bockbrader. Elvena married Charles Burkholder on November 12, 1948 in Luckey, OH and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1995.
She had worked as a book store clerk at Owens Technical College and worked on the family farm.
Her memberships included: Zion Lutheran Church, the church women’s group and she taught Sunday school for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and travelling.
Elvena is survived by her children: Lois Froehlich of Luckey, OH; son: Ken (Jill) Burkholder of Columbus, OH; grandchildren: Kristen Burkholder, Brad Burkholder and great-granddaughter: Bianca Burkholder, all of Columbus, OH; nephew: Dave (Linda) Bockbrader of Perrysburg, OH; and niece: Linda Bockbrader of Perrysburg, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Charles, brothers: Raymond and Ervin Bockbrader and nephew: Tom Bockbrader.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, 110 Main Street, Luckey, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Luckey, OH, with additional visitation from 10 a.m. until time of services. Officiating will be Pastor Matthew Deames. Interment will be in Troy Twp. Cemetery, Luckey. There will be a bereavement luncheon served at the church immediately following the cemetery committal services.
Considerations for memorial contributions are: Zion Lutheran Church— Memorial Fund, Otterbein Portage Valley—Van Fund or Southern Care Hospice, Toledo, OH.
