E-Aufdenkamp-Obit-PhotoEldon Henry Aufdenkamp, 78, of Custar, Ohio died Tuesday, September 3, 2013.
He was born August 10, 1935 in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late William and Lena (Buehning) Aufdenkamp. On June 27, 1959 he married Rosella Durliat at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar and she preceded him in death December 21, 1997.
Eldon was a 1953 graduate of Portage High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He had a lifelong passion to be a farmer and dedicated himself to the family farm in Custar. He had also worked for Cooper Tire and Whirlpool, both in Findlay, Ohio.
He was an avid gardener of pumpkins, vegetables and flowers. Eldon truly loved his family and especially following his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan; enjoyed playing golf and cards. He met many great friends while attending the Wood County Senior Center, where there was often a card game. For many years he enjoyed winters in Haines City, Florida where he played shuffleboard.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar.
He is survived by three daughters, Tamela (Craig) Hefflinger; Diane (Ray) Dunne; Karen Aufdenkamp; five grandchildren, Marcus Hefflinger; Tara (Cale) Sobecki; Mikhala Dunne; Allison Dunne; Megan Dunne; brothers, Edwin (Phyllis) Aufdenkamp; Herman (Eileen) Aufdenkamp; sister, Helen (Edward) LaBo; sister-in-law, Judy Aufdenkamp and very special friend, Nancy Adler.
He was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Burditt and brother, Raymond "Pete" Aufdenkamp.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar with Fr. David Tscherne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to St. Louis Catholic Church or School.
