Moenter-Obit-PhotoElaine E. Moenter, age 81, of Pemberville, OH, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Village, Pemberville, OH.
She was born on October 30, 1931 in Woodville, OH to Walter and Hilda (Behm) Oestreich. Elaine married Luther Moenter on May 21, 1955 in Luckey, OH, and he preceded her in death on August 6, 2010.
She was a clerk for the Rossford Ordnance, homemaker and worked on the family farm with her husband.
Her memberships included: Zion Lutheran Church, Luckey, OH, where she taught Sunday school for 39 years, served as Secretary of the Lydia Circle, Secretary for the Women of the Church, Sunday School Treasurer; life member and secretary for 26 years for the Troy Webster American Legion Auxiliary Post #240, Luckey, OH; and was Chaplain of the "Friends of Otterbein Portage Valley Group" and named "Volunteer of the Year" in 2002.


In her spare time she enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, sewing, baking and entering bake goods and flowers in the Wood County and Pemberville Fairs. She spent many hours at Otterbein Portage Valley planting and tending the flowers at the residence entrance and playing cards with the residents.
Elaine is survived by her children: Tom (Pam) Moenter of Columbus, Mary (Ken) Thompson II of Cincinnati, Mike (Judy) Moenter of Pemberville, OH; nine grandchildren; brother: Paul (Nancy) Oestreich; sisters: Joanne (Bill) Cole, Mae Gardner, Connie (Don) Fleming, Sharon (Mike) Fisher; and sister-in-law: Florence Moenter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother: Donald Oestreich.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 16, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, 110 Main Street, Luckey, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Luckey, OH, with additional visitation from 10 a.m. until time of services. Officiating will be Pastor Matthew Deames. Interment will be in Troy Twp. Cemetery, Luckey. There will be a bereavement luncheon served at the church immediately following the cemetery committal services.
Considerations for memorial contributions are Zion Lutheran Church or Troy Webster American Legion Auxiliary Post #240 for their Girl's State Program.
