Polan-Obituary-Photo.3Edward L. Polan, 80, of Weston, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013.
Edward was born in Doddridge County, West Virginia to the late Adren S. and Ellen (Nicholson) Polan. He married Ester Jackson in Jane Lew, West Virginia in 1953 and she survives in Weston.
Also surviving are his daughter: Barbara (Scott) Bowen of Perrysburg, Ohio; two sons: Edward (Jaime) Polan of Findlay, Ohio and David (Andrea) Polan of Victoria, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one any day; sisters: Shelbia Groves, Sheila Frazier, Naomi Harris, Beverly Arps and Deanie Jewell; a son-in-law Stephen Kendall of Grand Rapids; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Kendall; a granddaughter Stacie Bowen and a sister Mary Wright.
Edward retired after 37 years of service from Stykemain Trucks of Defiance.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. While stationed in Yuma, Arizona, Edward was the crew chief for some of the first jets to be sent out. Edward also enjoyed attending the Air Force Reunions at Pigeon Forge.
Edward enjoyed watching Ohio State Buckeyes and West Virginia Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers Football. Edward loved working outside and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Visitation for Edward will be on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 2 to 8 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460W. Wooster St., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, where his funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance, Ohio.
Memorial Contributions may be gifted in Edward's honor to Bridge Hospice, 1069 Klotz Rd., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402 or to Hope Lutheran Church, 13507 Cloverdale Rd. Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
