Edith Helen Hankey
Edith Helen Hankey, age 90, of Wayne, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday (March 30, 2013) at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, Ohio surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 19, 1923 to the late McClem & Nancy “Nana” (Miller) Baker. She married David Brown Hankey on January 2, 1953 in Bowling Green, Ohio and he passed away on June 15, 2007.
Surviving are son, David (Debi) Hankey of Luckey; daughter, Pamela (Stephen) Knisely of Wayne; sisters, Carolyn House of Piqua, Doris Smith of Fostoria; grandchildren, Brian (Lisa) Knisely of Findlay, Keith (Crystal) Knisely of Hutto, Texas, Taylor Hankey of Pemberville, Eric Weber of Luckey; great-grandchildren, Brayden Knisely, Kayden Knisely & Addyson Knisely.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Franklin, Clem, Wilbur, Elmer, Edward; sisters, Genevieve Roberts & Nina Smarr.
Edith worked at various businesses in Fostoria including the State Movie Theatre & Kresge Drug Store. She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Luckey & Peace Lutheran Church in Bowling Green and was currently attending Wayne United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Troy-Webster American Legion Auxiliary in Luckey and the Wayne Senior Center.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday (April 2, 2013) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio. Additional visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday (April 3, 2013) at the Wayne United Methodist Church where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Kuhlman officiating. Burial will be in Wood County Memory Gardens Cemetery near Bowling Green, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne United Methodist Church or Bridge Home Health & Hospice of Bowling Green.
