WaylandDDouglas Owen Wayland, age 59, passed away suddenly on November 25, 2013.
Beloved son of the late Robert D. and Isolde T. Wayland. Brother to Robert E. (Carole) Wayland, John W. (Cynthia) Wayland, and Suzanne M. (Martin) Collins. Uncle to Robert M. (Rebecca) Wayland, Katherine T. (Luis) Rodriguez, Mark T. Wayland, Jesse M. Wayland, and Jenna N. Wayland. He was also a cherished and dear friend to many more.
After obtaining his Masters Degree in musical performance from BGSU, his inquisitive nature and lifelong love of opera, beckoned him to travel and perform all over the world. He later returned to BGSU to teach voice and opera at the College of Musical Arts. He has lectured on music, opera, history and culture for the Metropolitan Opera Association, Harvard, Yale, Stanford Alumni, Audubon Society, Denver Museum of Art, NY Natural History Museum and many other museums on trips to music festivals and archeological sites in 95 countries on all seven continents, including Antarctica.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3 at the Dunn Funeral Home, located in Bowling Green's Historical District at 408 W. Wooster St. Funeral Services will be held immediately following visitation at the Dunn Funeral Home.
There will also be a separate memorial service, to be announced, at the College of Musical Arts at BGSU.
