Doris Jean (Bowles) Reichert of Hanover, New Hampshire, passed away on April 16, 2012 at the age of 86.Doris was born in Glasgow Jct., Kentucky on September 5, 1925 and was the eldest daughter of William B. Bowles (of G.H. Bowles and Son) and Pearl Bowles of Glasgow, Kentucky. After graduating from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, Doris married William O. Reichert (Bill) of Brooklyn, New York on March 17, 1949. Doris and Bill spent the second year of their marriage living in Paris, France. Doris's experiences traveling throughout Europe and living in Paris developed into a life-long passion for travel. Doris generously shared this passion with her four children. Doris and Bill subsequently lived in Lexington, Kentucky where Doris earned a Master's Degree from the University of Kentucky in English literature while her husband taught at the University of Kentucky. They lived in several Midwestern states before moving to Bowling Green, Ohio, where her husband was a professor and later the Chair of the Political Science Department at Bowling Green State University. Doris provided editorial aid and support for her husband's political writing career. She was an advocate for the arts and participated in important political causes such as the CORE civil rights movement that took place in Lexington, Kentucky in the late 1950's. In addition, Doris was a successful jingle writing contest winner. Doris and her husband, Bill retired to the Upper Valley in 1981. Doris will be remembered for her loving nature and the devotion and support she gave to her children and family. She shared freely her love of literature, art, education, and travel. Doris is survived by her four children, William Robert Reichert (Rob) of Bowling Green Ohio and his wife Carol; Jean Reichert of Hanover, New Hampshire and her partner David Lyle; Bryant Reichert of Norwich, VT; and Eric Reichert of Hanover, NH and his wife Teresa; her sister Katherine (Bowles) Naumann and her brother-in-law Thomas Naumann of Louisville, Colorado; her nephews, Tom Naumann Jr. of Louisville, Colorado and his wife Althira; and Louis Naumann of Golden, Colorado.
