Donald John "John" Althaus, age 83, of Wayne, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday (May 31, 2013) at his home.
He was born on May 5, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Don George and Ann Helena (Inman) Althaus. John married Lois J. Carr on September 1, 1951 in Wayne, Ohio; she passed away on June 18, 2000.
Surviving are Sons, Ron (Cindy) Althaus of Perrysburg, Ohio, Randy (Cynthia) Althaus of Wayne, Ohio; Sister, Carol Freeman of Pemberville, Ohio; Grandchildren, Jeremy Althaus, Ben Harpster, Jared Harpster, Branden Althaus, Josh Althaus, Sunshine Vekas, Jeremiah Graham, Misty Gibson; and eight Great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his Parents, Donald and Ann; Wife, Lois J. Althaus; Daughter, Carla S. Harpster; Brother, Ronald Althaus; Grandson, Jason Althaus.
John was a 1948 Graduate of Montgomery Township High School, and attended one year at the Bowling Green State University, studying Geology.
John worked as an Electrical Consultant at Mick Electric.
He enjoyed politics, camping, and tinkering around the house and shop.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, (June 3, 2013) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday (June 4, 2013) at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Graham Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
