Donald A. Moore, age 93, of Luckey, OH, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, OH.
He was born on December 31, 1919 in Walbridge, OH, to John and Stella (Jenkins) Moore. On June 14, 1947 he married Daisy Gable in Toledo, OH and she survives.
Don attended Franklin, Toledo Vocational and Lake Township Schools.
He served his country proudly during World War II while enlisted in the Army Air Force serving 3 1/2 years in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged as a Staff-Sgt in 1945.
After 31 years of faithful service as a car man in the Walbridge yards he retired from CSX Railroad in December 1980.
His memberships included: Grace Lutheran Church, Troy-Webster American Legion Post # 240, former Luckey Sunshine Seniors Club, all of Luckey; former Fellowship Officer in Flotilla 10-06 of Coast Guard Auxiliary; life member of VFW Post #9963, 50-year member of Knights of Pythias-Concord, both of Walbridge; F.O.E. #197 and its R.E.A.C. Club and the Wood County Seniors.
In his spare time he enjoyed working in his garden and yard and was a bowler for many years.
Surviving Don is his loving wife of 66 years: Daisy, daughters: Linda (Robert) Herman of Haskins, Nora (John) Susor of Ocala, FL, Catherine (Renny) McEwen of Cygnet, sons: David Moore Sr. and Brent Moore Sr., both of Luckey, 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law: Cherie Moore, 3-year-old sister: Eleanor Moore and brother: Harvey D. Moore.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, 110 Main Street, Luckey, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. from Salem Grace United Lutheran Church, Luckey, OH with additional visitation from 10 a.m. until time of services. Officiating will be Rev. Jaci Tiell. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Perrysburg, OH.
There will be a bereavement luncheon served at the Troy-Webster American Legion Post #240, Luckey immediately following the cemetery committal services.
Consideration for memorial contributions are to: Troy-Webster American Legion Post #240, Salem Grace United Lutheran Church or Wood County Senior Center.
