Denise E. Tebbe, 60, of Findlay passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Blanchard Valley
Hospital, Findlay.
She was born on September 12, 1953, to the late George and Dorcas (Hendricks) Dunn, III in Bowling Green,
OH. On July 21, 1978, she married Joseph L. Tebbe and he survives.
She is survived by her daughter, Emily J. Tebbe of Asheville, NC; her twin sons: William J. Tebbe of
Louisville, KY and Jonathon L. Tebbe of Boulder, CO; her two sisters: Marcia K. (David) Houdeshell of
rural Arlington and Valerie L. (Daniel) Sanders of Toledo; as well as her many in-laws, nieces and
nephews. Her family was essential to her.
Denise graduated from Findlay High School in 1971 and Bowling Green State University in 1975. For 35
years, she influenced and shaped countless lives at Arlington School as a first grade teacher.
Denise was a member of the Buckeye Western Horseman Association, Advisor of the "Lucky
Horseshoes" 4-H Club, founder of the "Above the Bar" K-9 4-H Club, and Hancock County
Fair Superintendent for both equine and canine. She loved to travel with her "save the butt
puppy", Ellie, to AKC and CPE events. She was a Mazza Children’s Art Gallery Docent at the
University of Findlay and volunteered for many organizations around Findlay and Hancock County. At the
2013 American Cancer Society’s Festival of Trees, Denise was honored as a Survivor.
She found great joy in event planning and floral design at B. Design with Bonnie Kirk, and loved the
arts, particularly fused glass.
Denise cherished her friends and all of the adventures they shared. Her determination to support others
and educate persists at OSU where she is "still teaching".
Hours of celebration will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at the Hancock Park District’s
