David Stearns Crooks, 72, of Bowling Green passed away Wednesday August 15, 2012. He was born in Toledo, Ohio to the late Clarence and Katherine (Tritschler) Crooks. He married Stephanie Paravati on May 17, 1980 in St Peters & Paul Catholic Church in Sandusky and she survives in Bowling Green. Also surviving are his two daughters: Alison (Tony) Gareffa of Westerville, Ohio and Alexia (Brady) Coffman of Bowling Green, Ohio ; a son: Larry Crooks of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers: Jim (Nazz) Crooks of Sandusky, Ohio and John (Barb) Crooks of Huron, Ohio; and two grandchildren: Ben and Evan. He was preceded in death by his sister Carol Kromer. David received his Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling. David was the director of the Bowling Green Bowen-Thompson Student Union for 17 years. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bowling Green and owned and operated the former Crooks Den and David's East Restaurant in Sandusky, Ohio. David enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie and playing good game of golf. David was a loving husband, father, grandpa and brother, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and colleagues. Visitation will be Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., PO Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402; Tele: 419/352-2171. David's funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Friday August 17, 2012 with the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 150 S. Enterprise St., Bowling Green, with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Hospice, 1037 Conneaut Ave. Suite 204, Bowling Green, Ohio. I was saddened to learn of Dave's passing. I know the last time I visited him at WCH he was not doing well but had hoped he would improve once he got out of there. I was out of town or I would have come to the visitation. Dave was always very nice to me when I helped out with the testing at BGSU. Hold onto those special memories you have of him.
