Clark Duncan, 90, known to young and old as the "candy kiss man" passed away on Friday,
February 28, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was a life-long resident of Center Township. Born on
November 29, 1923 to Joseph and Edith (Gander) Duncan, Clark married Marcella Dahms on May 12, 1946 and
she survives.
Clark was a farmer and also retired postal clerk for the Bowling Green Post Office where he made a lot of
friends. He passed out thousands of candy kisses over the years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in
World War II. He was past-president of the BG Noon Kiwanis Club, past-president and Life member of the
Wood County Historical Society, member of the Board of the Easter Seals, Board member of the Wood County
Humane Society, member of the Cloverdale United Methodist Church, chairman of the Administrative Board
of the church, Chairman of the Trustees of the church, and was a former Youth
Fellowship Leader at the church. He also was former delegate to the Annual Church Conference, and former
member to the Pastor Parish Committee. He was a member of the Barn Bums, former Director of Hancock-Wood
Electric Coop, former Trustee of Center Township, served on the Wood County Republican Central
Committee. In 1990 Clark was awarded the Spirit of Wood County Award. He was a member of the Portage
Center Gleaners Arbor and in 1991 he was presented with the "Outstanding Service to Community and
Beyond" award by Gleaners Life Insurance. Clark also got the opportunity to participate in The
Honor Flight.
In addition to his wife of over 67 years, Marcella, he is survived by his grandchild Brandi (Stephen)
Wallace of West Milgrove, Ohio, nieces, Linda (Gerald) Bechstein of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Janet
(Denny) Burkenpas of Lafayette, Indiana and nephew, Dallas (Betty Lou) Duncan of Howey in the Hills,
Florida. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Duncan.
Visitation for Clark will be held on Monday March 3, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at DUNN FUNERAL HOME,
located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street. His funeral service will
be held on Tuesday March 4, 2014 at 11 am at The Cloverdale United Methodist Church, 8984 Kramer Road
Bowling Green. Rev. Howard Mayne will officiate. Burial will follow at Portage Cemetery.
