Charles F. "Hutch" Hutchings, age 84, passed away May 18, 2014 at Bethesda Care Center in
Fremont, Ohio following a brief illness.
He was born in 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Charles F. Hutchings, Sr. and Eleanor J. Hutchings.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Elise "Trudy" (Truesdall); sons Charles "Chip"
Hutchings of Bowling Green, Ohio and John (Nancy) of Powell, Ohio. He is survived by five grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1947, second in his class of 180 students. He earned a B.A.
in Cartography from Kent State University in 1952, where he helped co-found the Sigma Delta fraternity
(now Sigma Alpha Epsilon).
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, from January of 1953 to December of 1954,
serving in the Medical Corps.
He worked at Steinle-Wolfe Construction and Mosser Construction Company, both located in Fremont, Ohio,
and for Rudolph-Libbe, Inc. in Toledo, Ohio. He retired in 2002 as Risk Manager/Vice President.
He was a member of American MENSA (a distinction he proudly shared with both sons Chip and John), a past
President of the Fremont Outing Club, the Birchard Library Board, and an active member of the Board of
the Building and Grounds Committee of the Rutherford. B. Hayes Presidential Center. He was a member of
the Fremont Country Club, past President of the Toledo Chapter of the Construction Specifications
Institute, the Ohio Contractors Association, and a co-founder and past President of the Toledo Chapter
of the Risk and Insurance Manager’s Society.
Services were entrusted to Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation, and took place Saturday,
May 24, 2014 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
