Boyd D. Case, 83, of Findlay, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
He was born January 27, 1930, in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late S. Boyd and Ruth (Doane) Case.
On August 8, 1954 he married Nancy Roe in Weston, Ohio. They had four children, Lori (Don) Robinson, Julia Ruth (deceased), Amy (Mike) Fingerhuth and Tim (Carol) Case; eight grandchildren: Douglas, Donny and Bethany Robinson, Ryan, Logan and Devin Fingerhuth, Zachary and Jeremy Case and one great-grandson, Josiah Robinson.
After graduating from Bowling Green Senior High School in 1947, he attended Bowling Green State University and graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Education degree.
In August 1951, Boyd joined the U.S. Army, serving in the 40th Division Artillery in Korea until August 1953.
He began a long and devoted career in education starting at Middleton Local Junior High in Haskins teaching Math and Science, then serving as Junior High Principal and later Superintendent. He earned his Master's of Education degree from Bowling Green State University during this time.
He moved from Middleton Local to become the Junior High Principal and then Superintendent of Lake Local Schools. He came to Findlay in 1969 serving as Principal at Northview and Washington Elementary Schools until his retirement in 1981.
His retirement years have been spent with his beloved wife Nancy enjoying travel, visiting family and friends, researching family genealogy, and serving on the Library Committee at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church where he was a member since 1969.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, where visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Pastor Larry Kreps will officiate and graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bowling Green, OH, where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
