Betty L. Handley, age 71 of Perrysburg Township, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Hospice of
Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.
She was born on July 3, 1943 in Toledo to Sidney and Gladys (Modisett) Hess.
Betty was a 1961 graduate of Libbey High School.
She was employed for many years at Piatt’s Bakery in Perrysburg.
She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Master in Perrysburg.
Betty enjoyed family vacations to Florida, the Smoky Mountains and Yellowstone. She also enjoyed casino
trips with her sisters and nieces, baking, sewing, cards and Bingo. Betty’s greatest joy was spending
time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
Surviving is her loving husband of 53 years, Charles H. Handley; children, Terry Handley, Julie (Tim)
Shank, Chuck (Rachel) Handley and Fred Handley; grandchildren, Seth, MacKenzie, Sophie, Brooke and
Meghan; brother, Tom Hess; sisters, Jackie (Robert) Busch and Ada Davis.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Robert, Sidney, James and Lester.
Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd., on Friday,
July 25, 2014 from 2 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Lutheran Church of the Master, 28744 Simmons
Rd. Perrysburg, OH beginning at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
The family suggests contributions in Betty’s memory be made to Lutheran Church of the Master or Hospice
of Northwest Ohio.
