Beryl Webb Stewart, age 84, of Wayne, Ohio, passed away on Monday (March 4, 2013) at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio.
He was born on March 31, 1928 in West Millgrove, Ohio to the late John Burr and Olive Marie (Webb) Stewart. He married Joan Catherine Peatee on August 31, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio and she passed away on February 13, 2013.
Surviving are son, Bruce (Stephanie) Stewart of Pemberville; daughters, Heather (John) Bowden of Plano, Texas, Linda Black of Pemberville; grandchildren, Christopher Bowden, Alex Stewart, Scott Stewart, Andy Black and Danielle Black.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and son, John Francis Stewart.
Beryl graduated from Montgomery Township High School in 1946 and went to the University of Toledo, where he earned a degree in chemistry. He graduated in 1964 from Case Western with a law degree.
He served his country proudly in the Army during the Korean War, where he taught math and was a sharpshooter.
When he returned from the military he started his law career with Lloyd Chamberlain Realty and then opened the Stewart Law office still operating in Wayne until his death.
He played semi professional fast pitch softball out of the Toledo area and slow pitch around the Wayne area until the age of 72. He was a member of the Wood County Bar Association, the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 in Bradner and the NRA.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and he loved going to Elmwood football, basketball, baseball and softball games.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (March 9, 2013) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Amstutz officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Elmwood Athletic Boosters or the Wayne Public Library.
