Beryl once told me he had never met a stranger. I witnessed his ease in picking up conversations with people he had just met. It was plain that in his sight, everyone was equal until someone proved otherwise.
He loved motorcycles and going with friends to motorcycle swap meets.
He had a sign in his office, "HONEST LAWYER - ONE FLIGHT UP" 'Honest' is certainly how I will remember him. Beryl was my friend from the first time I met him in 1974

Beryl was an avid reader of American Civil War history. He also had a habit of folding the corner of the last page he read in order to mark where he'd left off. Of course when in grammar school, we were taught not to do this.
When reading Civil War histories from the Wayne Library, each time I encounter a corner of a page folded, I know Beryl had been there before me and read the book. He remembered what he read! What a mind he had.

Beryl was a great friend to me and the Village of Bairdstown. Without his help Bairdstown would have not had water as soon as they did. Friends like Beryl are hard to find in our world today.

I loved talking to Beryl, he had so many stories to tell. Both he and Joan were some of the most intelligent people that I have ever met and they were eager to help sometimes at no profit to them..I will miss both of them very much. RIP Beryl and Joan.

I can't remember a day without Beryl!! From the softball field were he once help coach me to the same field were we played against each other. Always so eager to help a child learn the game and especially pitch. Some girls ago the girls basketball coach said "you know you are good when Beryl is in the stands". I will truly miss Beryl at our Softball games. He was a staple on the sidelines at just about every game we played. He was a true fan. I know all of the girls that played softball at Elmwood will remember Beryl in their own way, but 1 thing will be for sure. They will remember him with a smile.
RIP Beryl. You will be missed!!!!

Truly one of the nicest men I've ever met. Our community will not be the same without him. What a legacy of dedication this man left. Such a staple at both school and community athletics. I enjoyed him as a person and will remember him fondly. Thank you Beryl for all you've done.

Never a dull moment when Beryl came to the office to do business. He was a friend to all and so intelligent. He knew I loved golf so he always called me Babe Zaharias. He and Joan will be missed.
