Anna Rose (Stevens) Leader, age 85, of Findlay, left her earthly home to enter the heavenly
realm on December 5, 2013. She had resided at the Heritage in Findlay since April 6, 2012.She was born
on February 25, 1928 to Melvin and Clara (Newell) Stevens in Shawtown, OH. She graduated from McComb
High School in 1946 and attended Bowling Green State University.Throughout her life, she was guided by
and active in demonstrating the values of Christian faith. Rose married Calvin on June 12, 1948, and was
a highly appreciated companion to him her whole married life. She was a devoted mother and
grandmother.During her husband’s working years, as he was climbing the ladder in school superintendency,
she moved many times. She told her children moving was an exciting experience and good.Her hobbies
included singing, antiquing, Tole painting, community improvement projects, aiding others in time of
need, and most of all being with and helping people.For 10 years, she served as secretary, then
administrative assistant to the director of Buckeye Association of School Administrators. She and her
husband were honored as recipients of The Gurnee Days Award in 1998 for years of dedicated service to
the Village of Gurnee.Rose is survived by her husband Calvin Edwin Leader, daughter Carole (E. Kal)
Pelttari, daughter-in-law Sheryl (Sandusky) Leader; grandchildren, Stephanie (Craig) Leader Vermeer,
Matthew (Emily Barnhardt) Leader, Daniel Leader, Erik Pelttari, Aaron (Natalia Tobar) Peltttari; and
great-grandchildren Andrew, Caroline, and Alexander Vermeer, David and Lucas Pelttari; as well as
numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Leonard Stevens, and
her son Steven Leader.The family will receive visitors Tuesday December 10, 2013 4-8 p.m. at the HARTLEY
FUNERAL HOME in McComb, and Wednesday 10 a.m. at the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Findlay
with the funeral service at 11 a.m. officiated by Larry Kreps. Internment will be in McComb Union
Cemetery.Memorials can be made to the Northwest Ohio Alzheimer’s Assoc; Bridge Home Health and Hospice,
