Anna McGrain Kern

Anna McGrain Kern of Windham, NH, passed away peacefully at her home January 11 at the age of 95.
She was the wife of the late Frank A Kern.
Ann had resided in Windham since 2006.
One of 11 children, she grew up in North Baltimore, Ohio. She attended North Baltimore High School and
graduated from the Toledo Beauty Academy and worked in Swanton, as a beautician. After marrying Frank in
1939 they resided and raised a family in Toledo, Ohio until 1984 when they retired to Naples, FL.
Both Ann and Frank moved to Windham, NH in 2006 to the home of their daughter, Dianna Fallon.
Anna enjoyed creating art, birding, golf, sunsets, award winning baking, and her family.
She is preceded by her brothers, Arthur, Leo, Clair and Cloyd McGrain, her sisters Callista McGrain
Robinson, Madelon McGrain Quinn, Dorothea McGrain Hall, and her husband Frank Kern.
Anna is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Thomas Kern and wife Lois of Petersburg, MI and Jerry Kern
and wife Lynda of Punta Gorda, FL. and two daughters, Dianna Fallon and husband Neil of Windham, NH and
Bonnie Paglialunga and husband, Dominic of Canton,
as well as 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also
remembered by two sisters, Marguerite McGrain Distel of Bowling Green, and Patricia McGrain of Pompano
Beach, FL.
New Hampshire services were held at Goundrey & Dewhirst, Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 9 a.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Matthews in Windham at 11 a.m. A celebration of her life and her
family’s love for her was at her Rock Pond Road home after the Mass.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W.
Tiffin St., in Fostoria. She will be interred with her husband and parents at Weaver Cemetery in Bloom
Township.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Anna’s name can be sent to Friends of Moeckel Pond [501(c) 3] to help
