Albertine E. Doehring

On January 16, 2014 Albertine E. Doehring, 99, passed away peacefully at Sterling House, where she had
resided the last several years.
She was born in Ada, Ohio, on July 24, 1914, to Eugene and Ethel Turner, now deceased. She was preceded
in death by her brother, James Turner, and sister, Betty Turner.
She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and enjoyed many happy memories of her time there.
Albertine graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1936 and taught second grade after graduation.
On June 25, 1939, she married Kenneth Doehring and they were married for 67 years before his death on
June 24, 2006.
She enjoyed teaching and was a substitute teacher in the Bowling Green City Schools and in Wood County
schools, and loved children of all ages. For many years she worked as an Entry Clerk at the Wood County
Fair, and worked part-time at the Sentinel-Tribune and Lane Drug Store.
She collected demitasse cups and saucers and enjoyed flower gardening and raising African violets.
For 70 years she was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowling Green and served in
many capacities including Sunday School Recording Secretary, teaching in Vacation Bible School and
Junior Church, and was a member of Esther Circle. In later years she enjoyed the friendship and
fellowship of members of the Loyal Hearts Class at Trinity.
She spent her life in service as a devoted daughter, wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her
family.
Surviving are her two children, Judith (James) Sainsbury of Westlake, OH, and William of Marysville, OH;
nephews, James (Cheryl) Turner Jr., of Grawn, MI, and Ronald (Connie) Turner of Ann Arbor, MI.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the DUNN FUNERAL
HOME, located in Bowling Green’s Historical District at 408 W. Wooster St. The family will receive
friends beginning at 12 noon.
Interment is at Oak Grove Cemetery.
