Eagleson-Albert-obitAlbert A. Eagleson died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green, Ohio.
He was born December 2, 1919 in Dupont, Ohio to David A. and Gertie A. (Spencer) Eagleson. On May 16, 1941 he married Dorothy K. Gill and she survives. They spent 72 years together.
Also surviving is one daughter, Sharon S. (Tom) Patton of Rudolph, Ohio; three grandchildren, Cindy (Jaime) Zsembik of Archbold, Ohio, Scott (Lisa) Euler of Bowling Green, Ohio, Shane (Susie) Euler, Bowling Green, Ohio; six great-grandchildren, Carey (Jon) Monk of Rossford, Ohio, Taylor Zsembik, Stefani Euler, Brittany Euler, Hannah Euler, and Blake Euler, all of Bowling Green, Ohio; two great-great-grandchildren, Caleb Monk and Ethan Monk, both of Rossford, Ohio; one half sister, Shirley Kelley of Belmore, Ohio; and one half brother, Joseph Eagleson of Continental, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lavoid Eagleson, his sisters Ruth Eagleson and Gladys Miller, his half brothers Donald, Richard and Robert Eagleson, and half sister Betty Rayle.
Albert was a World War II Veteran in the Army. He completed airplane and engine mechanic school in Lincoln, Nebraska and then became an instructor and was honorably discharged his rank being a Sergeant in 1946.
He retired from Columbia Gas in 1979, after 30 years of service.
In his earlier years he served on the City Council in Cygnet, Ohio and was active in the Cygnet Fire Department. He was a member of the Tontogany Legion for 63 years. He was a member of the Wood County Masonic Lodge #112 for many years. He was a former member of Odd Fellows Lodge in Tontogany.
He enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers and keeping a nice yard. He always attended his grandchildren's sporting events and enjoyed helping with their 4-H animals. He never missed going daily to the Wood County Fair and he loved his dogs.
Albert enjoyed riding his motorcycle on short trips close to home. He enjoyed car rides with his wife, Dorothy. He was a simple man with a big heart.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at PEINERT-DUNN FUNERAL HOME, 18620 Washington Street Tontogany, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 1, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home. Rev. John Randall will officiate. Interment will follow at Tontogany Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be given in Albert's name to the Wood County Humane Society.
