PEMBERVILLE – A trial in the case of a former village resident who reportedly shot a neighbor’s dog in
front of the man’s children is scheduled for August.
A pre-trial hearing in the case of Christopher Zimmerman, 64, currently of Tennessee Ridge, Tenn., was
held in the courtroom of Judge Reeve Kelsey on Monday.
Zimmerman was not present.
Zimmerman was indicted on two counts of endangering children last year related to the shooting. Zimmerman
reportedly shot the animal, a 6-month-old dog named "Puppy," with a .45-caliber Desert Eagle
handgun in the presence of two children of a next-door neighbor, who owned the dog. Zimmerman claimed
the dog was going to attack him.
The case attracted local anger – Zimmerman’s former residence in the 100 block of East College Avenue was
reportedly egged after the incident and he subsequently moved to his current address out-of-state.
The trial is set for Aug. 13-15. The next pre-trial hearing in the case is scheduled for June 30 at 9
a.m.
