Wood County park programs offered

The Wood County Park District is offering the following programs, which can be registered for at
www.wcparks.org or by calling 419-353-1897.
• Quail Release, 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Bradner Preserve, 11491 Fostoria Road entrance – Come get an
overview of the park district’s bobwhite quail program and then join in releasing quail into their new
home at the Bradner Preserve.
• Native American Footwear, 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, W.W. Knight Nature Preserve: Friends Green Room, 29530
White Road, Perrysburg – This is an introduction to North American Native American footwear. Discuss the
basic stylistic forms, distribution of patterns and the characteristic decorative styles. Examples of
different types of moccasins as well as the different materials used will be available.
• Bird Study Merit Badge for Boy Scouts, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12, W.W. Knight Nature Preserve: Friends
Green Room – Learn all about birds during this program designed to assist boy scouts in earning a merit
badge. Registration is required. Contact naturalist Jim Witter at 419-575-7345 or [email protected] to
learn about how to prepare to complete this merit badge.
• Timberdoodle Song and Dance, 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. April 16, Cricket Frog Cove, 14810 Freyman Road,
Cygnet – They’re high in the sky and on the ground around us. Watch the sky at sunset and listen for
woodcocks trying to attract their mates. Dress for the weather and wet walking.
• Spring Mushrooms I, 10 to 11:30 a.m. April 19, Rudolph Savanna, Rudolph Road, 0.5 miles north of
Mermill Road, Rudolph – Get introduction on how to tell one fungus from another, then explore woods,
prairie and trailside for oysters, morels and more.
