Family Service Counseling Center of Wood County, a service location of Family Service of Northwest Ohio, has been reaccredited by the Council of Accreditation according to James E. Jones, President and CEO.
Family Service of Northwest Ohio, 1616 E. Wooster St., received its initial accreditation for COA in 1981, and has maintained this level ever since.
COA accreditation attests that an organization meets the highest national standards and is delivering the best quality services to the community it serves. Accreditation is determined through an in-depth examination of the organization's compliance with the best practice standards. COA is an international, independent not-for-profit accrediting body which "promotes best-practice standards; champions quality service of children, youth, and families and advocates for the value of accreditation."
All Family Service of Northwest Ohio locations - in Toledo, Bowling Green, Wauseon, Defiance, Bryan and Napoleon - and all services provided therein, received this re-accreditation status. "We are extremely proud of this accomplishment, COA has a very high standard, and as rigorous as the self study and the site visits are, it is very gratifying to hear their final approval. Family Service has always worked hard to be the best, and a validation of this magnitude is really something to celebrate," Jones said.
Family Service of NW Ohio, and the Family Service Counseling Center of Wood County, is a non profit agency that empowers families to manage life's challenges by providing high quality and affordable counseling, home care, outreach, advocacy, and prevention education services to Northwest Ohio Families. Programs and services are funded in part by Lucas County Board of Mental Health & Recovery Services, Wood County ADAMhs Board, Four County ADAMhs Board, the Area Office on Aging, the United Way of Greater Toledo, United Way of Fulton, Defiance, Henry and Williams Counties and CJCC.
