The 18th annual Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Foundation Wine & Cheese Social and Auction will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Simpson Building, 1291 Conneaut Ave.
News anchor Jerry Anderson will again be guest auctioneer for the fundraiser. Proceeds this year will go toward an exciting new fundraising project to be announced that night.
Foundation President Martha Mazzarella said she hopes many Bowling Green residents will not only attend the fundraiser but also will take part as volunteers. "I'd encourage everyone who's interested to get involved," Mazzarella said. "It's really a lot of fun."
She noted that the foundation welcomes donations of homemade food; volunteers for food service and related tasks; cash contributions from event sponsors, and donations of items worth $200 or more for the live auction. Popular auction items in the past have included gourmet meals and vacation accommodations.
A full list of auction items can be found online at www.bgohio.org/parksandrecreation.
Tickets, now $45 each, can be obtained at the Parks and Recreation Department office in the Simpson Building or purchased by calling 419-354-6297 or emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . They also can be purchased at the door.
