White and green picked for water tower color scheme

The color scheme for the city’s new water tower on Newton Road has been settled on.
The Board of Public Utilities on Monday voted to approve using "pillar white" for the base
color of the new tower, which is currently under construction. The text, and stripes above and below the
text on the tank will be cedar green. Sherwin Williams paint will be utilized.
Utilities Director Brian O’Connell indicated that the steel bowl of the tank will be painted while it is
on the ground over the next several weeks.
After that is completed, the tank will be raised to the top of the concrete support column and be secured
in place.
Construction on the bottom and top of the bowl will then be completed and then those areas will also be
painted. The concrete support column will not be painted.
O’Connell indicated that the contractor’s current schedule has them finishing the project in December of
this year; the contract allows until mid 2015.
The board also approved an application for an Ohio Development Services Agency grant that will allow the
city to coordinate with the Northwestern Water and Sewer District and the City of Perrysburg on an
emergency water interconnection feasibility study.
