WESTON – At the April 7 meeting of the Weston Village Council, it was announced by Mayor Jason Worthen
that there are various items which can be sold and sought council’s opinion and approval on the best way
to sell them.
It was decided, because of the value of some of the surplus items, especially the nostalgic value in many
of the items from the former school in the village, to sell all the items at the same time as the
village’s garage sale weekend. The list of available items will be published and sold from the former
school’s bus garage June 6 and 7.
Also, Rachel Latta and Dave Kuhn from Feller, Finch & Associates, updated the council on various
projects and upcoming deadlines for grant applications.
Latta asked council to encourage its voters to support the upcoming May primary ballot issue to renew
funding for the Ohio Public Works issue.
She also updated the members on a grant application being sought combining efforts with the Village of
Haskins for work to be completed on village streets. Other entities could join the effort, however she
told them any others would have to pledge 50 percent funding.
Council members also learned of deadlines for Wood County Park District grants, Nature Works and the
Brownfield Coalition grants which focus on removal of petroleum products from the area.
Village Administrator Chris Douglas announced brush pickup will begin April 21.
It was proposed the council offer another "open forum" to hear from the citizens of the village
an topics of their interest. It has been tentatively set for May 19.
