The water slide at the Bowling Green City Pool and Water Park will be closed until further notice.
The announcement was made via an e-mail message sent out Sunday morning from the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation department.
"It's a manufacturer and installer issue, two companies," said Aquatics and Fitness Manager Josh Chatfield this morning.
The slide's manufacturer, WhiteWater, "came out Sunday to certify the installation, that it was done properly. And they say now it was not installed properly."
"Astro Pools (the installer) has a few things that they need to tweak" so that "it's absolutely safe for all users."
Chatfield noted that the slide will not be "falling apart or anything."
Some of the issues stem from seams between sections of the slide that were not even.
"It could make for a less comfortable ride, so to speak," he explained.
Additionally, Astro Pools put a gel on some on the seams "which would make the seam smoother."
However, Chatfield said, over time that gel "could crack and separate and cause injury."
He hoped that the issue could be resolved "within the next week or two, but it's a matter of these two companies reaching agreement on who's going to make repairs, who's going to pay for those."
"It all depends on how well they get along."
Municipal Administrator John Fawcett said this morning that the city will not be paying for the repairs.
"There should not be any charge to the city. It'll be covered under the contractor's obligations," Fawcett stated.
