Walbridge marks centennial PDF Print E-mail

WALBRIDGE - Centennial celebrations in the village have been going on all year, but the biggest festivities will start on the Fourth of July.
A three-day celebration at Loop Park begins Thursday and will feature continuous entertainment, food, rides, memorabilia displays and vendors.
During Thursday's noon opening ceremony, Miss Village of Walbridge will be crowned. The committee will also honor the oldest living Walbridge natives.
There will be a VFW Color Guard and flag burning ceremony, and free birthday cake and ice cream.
Saturday is Health/Safety Day with Mercy health van, the Lake Township safety trailer, Life Flight and health and safety activities.
The schedule for Thursday is:
•    Noon, opening ceremony
•    1 p.m. Kim Boos, face painting
•    1:30 p.m., talent show
•    3 to 3:30 p.m., Rejoice Dance Group
•    3 to 6 p.m., Miss Rita Balloons
•    3:45 p.m., Sit means Sit dog training
The schedule for Friday is:
•    12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Magic Pattrick
•    1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Kurt Bruder, guitarist
•    2 to 3 p.m., Miss Rita Balloons
•    3 to 4 p.m., Ryan Weaver, singer/guitarist
•    3 to 4 p.m., Birdie the Clown
•    4 to 7 p.m., disc jockey and karaoke
•    7:30 to 11:30 p.m., Larry and the RidgeRunners (Larry Boday)
•    Face painting with Kim Boos, all day
The schedule for Saturday is:
•    11 a.m. parade
•    The YMCA Fun Bus, with activities for children, will visit after the parade
•    1 to 2 p.m., Jared Berger, guitarist
•     2 to 4 p.m., music from Rick and Amber
•    5 to 6 p.m., cloggers
•    7:30 to 11:30 p.m., Larry and the RidgeRunners (Larry Boday)
•    Face painting with Kim Boos, all day
Many of the performances will be held under the shelter roof by the playground and restrooms.
There will be a beer tent on Friday and Saturday nights.
