Two people were arrested in Bowling Green over the weekend on menacing charges after making apparently
racially-charged statements.
The first incident was reported at 2:52 a.m. Saturday in City Lot 1.
At that time, an officer observed an argument involving Bryan Whitacre, 24, Bowling Green, and other
individuals who were walking away from him.
Whitacre reportedly was also yelling at some point during the incident.
One of the victims, a black female who was walking with a black male, indicated that Whitacre had
threatened to lynch or hang her, and that she "feared for her life." Another female at the
scene also indicated Whitacre had made the threat.
Whitacre was arrested for aggravated menacing and taken to jail. He was reportedly intoxicated.
On Sunday at 9:10 p.m. in the 300 block of East Napoleon Road, police were called on the report of an
unknown black female who had made threats.
Upon arrival the woman, Lashanta Gipson, 28, Bowling Green, was observed to be behaving and speaking
erratically.
It was reported that she had made as though she was going to strike a white female at the scene and
stated "Get away from me, Honky."
She was arrested on a menacing charge and taken to jail.
She had reportedly been drinking and had not taken her medication.
