TONTOGANY — Eighteen cars of a 60-car train derailed Monday about 9:40 p.m. at Main Street in Tontogany. PHOTO BLOG

Bill Gase, assistant fire chief of the Washington Township Fire Department reports that the cars were carrying scrap metal and no hazardous materials.

Two buildings, the Washington Township Maintenance Department and the Washington Township Fire Department, sustained minor damage. Both sit adjacent to the tracks.

There were no injuries to anyone in the village or on the train.

Mutual aid was received from Weston and Middleton Township Fire Departments.

Main Street in the village is closed.
