A man is facing theft charges after his arrest following a chase with police at Owens Community College Thursday.
According to Owens Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police John Betori, at 1:15 p.m. a female student was preparing to leave the library on campus and go to the bus stop when she was engaged in conversation by Joel Stager, 27, Toledo.
While speaking, she dropped her wallet, spilling money on the ground. Stager then reportedly stooped to pick up the money before the woman, and fled the scene on foot.
Stager was arrested after a short chase by a campus police officer, who caught him in a field just to the east of the intersection of Tracy and Reuthinger Roads.
Stager has been charged with misdemeanor theft. He is not a student at Owens.
