MILLBURY - Three people were taken to area hospitals following a noontime crash on Ohio 51 near Fostoria Road Thursday. The Sandusky Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol reports that at that time Evelyn Earhart, Clyde, driving a 1997 Ford Taurus, was northwest on Route 51 when she drove left of center and struck a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Robert Fay, Bellevue, head-on. Both vehicles came to rest partially in the roadway. Earhart sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated from her vehicle by the Allen/Clay Joint Fire District. She was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center. She was not wearing a seat belt. Earhart's status was not immediately available this morning. Fay and his wife, Rose Fay, Bellevue, each sustained minor injuries and were taken by Allen/Clay Joint to Mercy St. Charles Hospital, there they were treated and released. Both were wearing seat belts. The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol was determined not to be a factor in the incident. |
