Texas man dies, Weston woman hurt in Wood County crash PDF Print E-mail

WESTON – The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Saturday motorcycle crash that left one man dead and injured his passenger.
Robert Theis, 62, Bells, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:39 p.m. on U.S. 6 and the railroad tracks near the village. Theis’s motorcycle was westbound on Route 6 when it struck a railroad crossing gate, which witnesses state was active and crossing lights were flashing.
The motorcycle then traveled off the north side of Route 6, coming to rest in a field.
Theis’s passenger, Donette Powers, 50, Weston, was transported to Wood County Hospital by Weston EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
Theis was wearing a helmet.
