PEMBERVILLE -Sunoco Logistics has purchased land to construct a booster pump station near the village water well field, Council Member William long told village council last week.
Earlier this year the village declined to sell some of its property at the edge of the well field to the firm.
Long said the purchase was made from a private landowner and that the EPA is OK with the purchase. "The EPA says the land is distant enough, being outside of a required 300-foot radius."
Sunoco plans to build a booster pump station for an underground pipeline that goes through the area. The pipeline was built in the early 1950s.
Council briefly discussed concerns about the line and the station but the only solution seemed to be the village purchasing additional land in the area of the well field.
Long said a representative of Sunoco Logistics attended a meeting of the village Board of Public Affairs last week to talk about the plans.
•   Agreed to spend up to $2,000 for parts for the machinery used for leaf collection.
•   Discussed at length how to handle a notice from the firm contracted to clean the public restrooms that it will no longer handle the task. The discussion also covered locking and unlocking the facility and continuing problems with vandalism. The Streets and Bridges Committee will have a recommendation at a future meeting.
•   Learned pool hours after the Pemberville Fair will be "regular" until school starts and then limited to evenings through Aug. 31. Hours Sept. 1-2 will by 1 to 5 p.m. and then the facility will close for the season.
•   Discussed safety concerns related to businesses using public right-of-way. Council Member Randy Rothenbuhler said the village wants to be business friendly and said he would make an effort to remind business owners of the proper procedure.
President of Council Eric Campbell ran the meeting in the absence of the mayor.
