‚ÄĘ¬†¬† ¬†Stream Quality Monitoring volunteer opportunity, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Otsego Park - Help monitor the water quality of the Maumee River. No experience necessary. Volunteers will go in the river, so dress appropriately and have proper footwear.
‚ÄĘ¬†¬† ¬†Composting Workshop, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, W.W. Knight Nature Preserve, Friends' Green Room - Would you like to improve the soil in your garden? Instead of throwing away those grass clippings, banana peels and apple cores, put them to good use. You'll learn about the benefits of composting and talk about a couple different ways to compost.
‚ÄĘ¬†¬† ¬†Native Nursery Nights volunteer opportunity, 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Reuthinger Preserve - Volunteers at the Native Plant Nursery and Greenhouse may be asked to plant, water, weed or collect seed. Dress to work outdoors and bring gloves if you have them.
‚ÄĘ¬†¬† ¬†Shorebirds Field Trip, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge (and another location to be determined)- Meet at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve. The marshes of Northwest Ohio are important stopover habitat for migrating shorebirds heading south for the winter. We will be looking for these and other interesting birds as we get a behind the scenes tour of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. We may visit other areas nearby if habitat is available. Cost is $5 or $3 for Friends members.
