The Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center will be offering a free Stewards of Children – Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wood County Educational Service Center, 1867 N. Research Drive, Bowling Green.
This interactive prevention program was developed by Darkness to Light, a national child sexual abuse prevention organization. It teaches adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Participants will:
• Hear stories from survivors of child sexual abuse regarding their victimization and healing;
• Learn “The 7 Steps To Protecting Our Children”;
• Receive a workbook detailing principles of choice, personal power, and impact of abuse.
Local and national statistics regarding child sexual abuse will be included. The training is geared for anyone who works with children and for parents and community members. It is approved for three continuing education credits for Ohio social workers, counselors and nurses.
