The Staples store is settling into its new location on South Main Street, just down the block and across the street from its old site.
"It's a new format," said General Manager Steve Ragan of the store, which held its grand opening March 7. "We're reducing our footprint a little bit" in some locations. The move was prompted by an expiring lease at the old site, located next to Hobby Lobby.
At 10,000 square feet, the new store, at 1135 S. Main, is smaller than the previous location, which had 22,000 square feet.
"I call it cozy," said Ragan. "It's great because everything's new. We have carpeting where we didn't before, and everything's perfectly merchandised."
Though the size of the store had changed, the inventory has altered only a little - for instance, the store no longer offers furniture.
"But we do have online ordering with free delivery," he said. "And it's usually next day. So I'm sure we'll be doing a lot of that. Kind of the way the retail world's moving, you know."
What hasn't altered is the number of employees, which has stayed the same, at 15.
"We moved everybody over to the new location."
Store hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
