A Perrysburg man was recently sentenced to five years in prison for a 2012 incident in which he reportedly shot a gun into an occupied vehicle.
John Vandersall, 52, was reportedly driving a 1994 Chevrolet truck on Aug. 14, 2012, when he shot into a Jeep which had a female driver and a male passenger. Neither was struck by the bullets.
The incident took place in the 400 block of West South Boundary Street, near Mulberry Street, in Perrysburg.
Vandersall previously pleaded to two counts of felonious assault with a firearm specification, and one count of improperly discharging a firearm.
Each of the felonious assault charges garnered a five-year prison sentence due to the firearm specifications, which Wood County Judge Robert Pollex ordered be served concurrently. For the discharging firearms count, Vandersall is to have five years of community control sanctions following his prison term.
He was given credit for 469 days served in the Wood County jail.
Additional counts in the indictment of attempted murder and escape were dismissed.
