Widespread storm damage across Wood County PDF Print E-mail

Widespread storm damage is being reported across Wood County.

Electric wires, trees and limbs are down everywhere. Many roads and streets are reported flooded.

Electric crews remained at work around the area after 8 p.m. One area was just west of Bowling Green where a large tree took down wires on Bowling Green Road West. There was also extensive tree damage along U.S. 6.

A tornado warning for Wood County expired at 3:15 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning continued until 3:30.

There have been no specific reports of a tornado. SEE MORE PHOTOS

Bowling Green was keeping some public works employees on duty after hours to take care of tree problems in the public right-of-way.

At 3:55 BG Fire was responding to an alarm at Kellermeyer in Wood Bridge Business Park.

At:3:54, Lake Township Fire was sent to an alarm at Rudolph-Libbe.

Repairs made the past three days to destroyed electric poles and lines on Dunbridge came through the storm with no problems, BG officials said.

There are several reports of wires down along Liberty Hi Road, including at Gorrell Road just west of BG and at Bays Road several miles to the south.

At 3:11 p.m. Weston fire was being sent to Weston Elevator on a report of an electrical fire.

At 3:13 p.m. Risingsun fire was sent to Union and Pearl on a report of electrical wires and poles down.

At 3:08 p.m. EMS units were being sent to a home in Grand Rapids on a report of a female in labor.

In the 12000 block of Eagleville Road a power pole is reported down against a house, blocking the exit.

Several trees were reported down in Jerry City.

A tree was reported down across the CSX tracks in Bowling Green near John Court.

A house in the 13000 block of Devils Hole Road was being reported as full of smoke. The problem was found not to be serious.

A tree is reported to have fallen on a house at 340 S. Main St. in North Baltimore.

The intensity of the rain in Bowling Green has diminished considerably since 3 p.m.

Numerous trees are reported damaged or downed along Ohio 25 through Portage and beyond. At 3:40 the 7000 block of southbound Route 25 was blocked by a tree, which was being worked on by ODOT employees.

A report of a semi flipped over on I-75 southbound just south of BG turned out to be bogus.

A semi was reported in a ditch off I-75 near the North Baltimore exit. Bloomdale EMS and fire on the scene at 3:07.

A tree is reported down on Wintergarden Road between Wooster and Conneaut and another in the 100 block of Lehman, both in BG.

At least some of downtown Perrysburg, including the police station was without power as of 2:30 p.m.

Electricity has been flickering at the Sentinel-Tribune office.

Wires are reported down in the 15000 block of Range Line Road north of U.S. 6. Electric wires are reported down in a wide variety of locations, both rural and in towns around the county.
