PEMBERVILLE - If residents want to sand bag to try to limit flood damage to their property, the village has sand, sand bags and shovels at the village street garage.
However, council members indicated Tuesday night that sand bagging is up to individuals and do not see the village responsible for coordinating the effort.
Mayor Gordon Bowman said the village's latest flood experience, caused by an ice jam Sunday and Monday, left about 40 homes in the area of Water and Bridge streets and Bierley Road with water in basements but no main floor flooding.
Council Member Eric Campbell said he was unaware of any calls for bags and noted that sand bagging efforts in the past have been aimed at helping prevent business flooding but not helping out homeowners.

Rossford Police reported that the incident may have stemmed from a crash on Wales Road earlier this morning involving a car that spun out of control on black, ice, causing power lines to fall and damaging a utility pole.
Police and First Energy/Toledo Edison were reportedly on-scene as of about 10:20 a.m.
Traffic signals on Buck Road were not operating during the incident, and Lime City Road and the Grassy Creek subdivision were also affected.
No injuries were reported in the crash, which occurred around 8:15 a.m.

Rupert Rudy Nave
ROSSFORD – Police have identified a Toledo man wanted in a recent robbery of a Rite Aid store in the city.
In a Twitter post today, Rossford Police noted they are looking for Rupert Rudy Nave, 55, Toledo, on charges of robbery and theft in the Dec. 29 incident at the store in the 800 block of Dixie Highway.
Nave is believed to have taken liquor from the store in the incident, in which a female clerk was knocked to the ground.
"That's what makes it a robbery," explained Rossford Police Chief Glen Goss, noting that the use of force in a theft designates it as a robbery.
Goss said that Nave has a history of theft charges, and that the Rite Aid incident was linked back to a Nov., 2012, case regarding an incident at Cork's Wine and Fine Liquors on Crossways Parkway in the city.
