SYLVANIA – An Ohio State Trooper was taken to an area hospital after a Rossford teen reportedly struck
her vehicle in Lucas County on Saturday.
The patrol reports that at 10:57 p.m. Trooper Jacquelyn Layson, 42, of the Toledo Post, was parked
southbound on the left berm on Interstate 475 near mile post 11 in Sylvania Township. She was parked in
her marked patrol car, with her emergency lights activated, behind a vehicle that had lost control and
ended up in the median. Layson was waiting for a wrecker to arrive.
At that time, a vehicle driven by Brittany Kralik, 17, Rossford, was southbound on the roadway and lost
control, striking the rear of the patrol car.
Layson was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries. She was not wearing her seat
belt at the time of the crash, due to being parked on the berm.
Kralik and her two passengers, who were wearing seat belts, were not injured.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and the incident remains under investigation.
