PERRYSBURG — A Rossford man, who possibly suffered a medical problem, died Thursday morning in a vehicle-motorcycle accident on Ohio 65 in Perrysburg Township.

The Bowling Green Highway Patrol Post is investigating a two-vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred at approximately 6:55 a.m. on Route 65 near the Ohio Turnpike in Wood County.

A 2012 Ford Escape driven by Burdette E. Waxler, 67, of Rossford, was traveling southwest on Route 65.  A 2007 Yamaha motorcycle operated by Ricky L. Metzger, 57, of Monclova, was traveling northeast. Waxler’s vehicle went left of center and struck the motorcycle on the left side. Waxler’s vehicle continued off the south side of the road and struck several mailboxes, a fire hydrant, and several small trees.

Metzger, who was wearing a helmet, was transported by Perrysburg Township EMS to St. Luke’s Hospital.  He sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. Waxler, who was wearing his seat belt, was transported by Perrysburg Township EMS to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.  The preliminary investigation revealed that Waxler possibly suffered a medical condition prior to the traffic crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
