Rollover causes turnpike delays

MILLBURY – A Michigan man was cited after his Jeep-hauling truck overturned at the Interstate 280
interchange with the turnpike, snarling traffic for hours.
The Swanton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that at 6:19 p.m. Robert Champine, Plymouth,
Michigan, was entering Interstate 80 eastbound from the acceleration ramp of I-280. He was driving a
Dodge Ram 3500 which was towing a trailer laden with three Jeep Wranglers.
Champine’s vehicle overturned off the left side of the road and onto the eastbound through lanes, coming
to rest across the right two lanes of eastbound I-80.
One of the Jeeps reportedly broke free of the trailer, but did not strike any other vehicles.
The lanes were blocked until 8:10 p.m.
Champine was not transported to a hospital.
He was cited for failure to control.
Champine reportedly claimed the left side tires of the trailer blew out, precipitating the crash. However
a dispatcher said this morning that there was no evidence on the roadway to support that.
