Wood County Planning Commission staff has recommended rezoning property in Lake Township for storage of tanks to be used in the recycling of restaurant cooking oil.
The commission will meet to consider the zoning request Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the county office building, 1 Courthouse Square, Bowling Green.
The request to change the zoning classification of a 1.23-acre parcel at the southeast corner of Walbridge Road and East Broadway Street from A-1 agricultural to M-1 light industrial was submitted by Joseph Solomon on behalf of Michigan Protein Inc.
A planning commission staff analysis states the property was used for commercial purposes before zoning was enacted in Lake Township. Land use in the area is industrial and commercial to the north and west, and residential-agricultural to the south and east.
The county's land-use plan designates the area as an expansion zone for Walbridge.
