|Rettig to run for Perrysburg Council|

PERRYSBURG - Perrysburg High School Counselor Rick Rettig has announced his intention to run for a position on Perrysburg City Council in the November election.
Rettig has been employed at Perrysburg High since 1999. He has spent 20 years in the field of education with five years of classroom experience as an English teacher at Wauseon High School. In addition to his high school experience, Rettig has also taught at Bowling Green State University as an instructor for their Introduction to Teaching classes as well as an admissions representative for Owens Community College.
"I have been a member of the Perrysburg Schools community for 14 years and a resident of the City of Perrysburg for eight. My desire to serve the greater good has simply led me to this position. I feel confident that my previous leadership positions have prepared me for this moment," said Rettig.
At the age of 24, Rettig was a Deacon at St. John's United Church of Christ, Holgate, where he was nominated and elected to the consistory board, which managed the finances and day-to-day operations of the church.
Rettig was also elected as the chair of the Tarhe Trails District of the Ohio High School Speech and Debate League in addition to a position on the Ohio High School Speech League State Executive Board.
"In addition, I am very proud of my ability to fostering community support with a variety of groups for various programs for our children. I have worked with organizations such as Perrysburg Rotary to Way Library to local business developing and creating unique opportunities for our students. I think the past relationships with these community organizations will make me a trusted, thoughtful voice on Perrysburg City Council.
Rettig has also been invited to sit on President's Advisory Boards for numerous colleges and universities throughout the state. Thus far, Rettig has been seated on the advisory boards of the Ohio State University, Miami University, the University of Akron and Cleveland State University.
