LAKE TOWNSHIP - The Ohio State Patrol is warning area residents to be on the lookout for a suspect that attempted to pull a loaded handgun on a trooper during a traffic stop at the intersection of I-280 and I-80 at 2 p.m. Thursday.
The suspect, Patrick Laverne Hammond, 42, Lorain, fled the scene on foot and was last seen running northwest from the Ohio Turnpike.
Hammond should be considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen wearing a light blue, long-sleeved shirt and dark blue work-style pants, similar to Dickies.
He is currently on federal probation for armed robbery.
The patrol, with Toledo and Lake Township police, are continuing the search. Additional charges are pending.
Residents are warned not to attempt to approach the suspect. They are asked to call 911 or the patrol at #677 to report his location.
